The Xian Yun College Counseling Program is dedicated to providing solid guidance for motivated high school students looking to present themselves at their best on a college application, professional resume, artistic portfolio, audition, or to excel during an interview. This program works to fully prepare students for the future, whether it is continuing in the arts, attending a top-tier university, or both. Every student will receive individual attention from our school’s academic counselor. Each semester our counselor also runs college seminar workshops for high school students. These workshops often feature guest speakers who can provide insight into the college planning process.
When students enroll in our high school program, the academic counselor will first set up an extensive 4-year timeline illustrating significant high school courses, extracurricular activities, standardized test prep, and college application strategies. The counselor will then continually meet, on a semester basis, with each student throughout their high school career in order to ensure that the student is motivated and on track to successfully accomplish their goals. Once students are in their Junior year, the program really goes into high gear. 11th and 12th grade students will receive workshops on how to craft the best possible application essays, fill out all their college application forms (including financial aid forms), and have workshops on how to present themselves professionally in any type of interview (college, job, etc.). Our arts faculty also will focus on 11th and 12th grade students to organize and present their portfolios of work for fine art universities or help students prepare for auditions.
