Admissions Process

We welcome students from all over the world with any type of background and aspirations to apply to be part of the Xian Yun community. Prior artistic training is not a prerequisite for admission, but valuing the arts is required. Students who are seeking to be challenged to do and be their best are strongly encouraged to apply.

Xian Yun Academy of the Arts California has a rolling admissions policy for all applicants to our Grades 6 -12 program. However, as a member of Independent Schools of the San Francisco Bay Area, we begin mailing decision letters for the upcoming school year on a common date around mid-March.

 

Step 1: Get to know Xian Yun CA

We welcome prospective students to schedule a Shadow Visit to experience Xian Yun CA. A Shadow Visit can be arranged for any school day from September through April. Our typical school day begins at 8:00am and ends at 5:15pm.

Step 2:  Apply for Full-Time (6-12th Grade) Admission

Applicants are required to select an area of art study at the time of application. Areas of art study include Dance or Visual Arts. Upon receiving your application, we will contact you within a week to schedule an interview.

IV.  Financial Aid

Xian Yun offers financial awards and scholarships to qualified students on the basis of demonstrated financial need and artistic talent. Please inquire for further details.

Xian Yun does not award need-based financial aid to international students. (Only U.S. citizens and U.S. Permanent Residents are eligible for financial aid.) International Applicants must certify that they will have adequate financial resources to meet the full costs of attending Xian Yun CA for their first year of study. It is required of them  to submit their financial information:  Financial Statement, copies of most current bank statements, tax returns, or a letter from financial institution stating sufficient funds for 1 year of tuition and living costs is reserved.

V.  Prepare for Interview

Upon receiving your application form, we will schedule an in-person interview or a phone interview with international student.

Students are selected for admission based on demonstrated commitment to advance in both academic and artistic studies, and the ability to contribute to building a successful, supportive, and inclusive school community.

 

Step 3:  Admissions Decisions

Xian Yun CA begins mailing decision letters for the upcoming school year around mid-March. For completed applications received after mid-March, we will mail decision letters within two weeks after the interview.
